As part of its commitment to being cultivators of change, L’Occitane Australia is thrilled to be taking action at a local level with the opening of its first Green Store – a worldwide first for the brand.
Working with the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA), the nation’s most renowned organisation in green building, L’Occitane has converted its Westfield Bondi Junction Boutique into a fully-functional, 5-star Design Review rated and to be certified Green Store.
Such a qualification recognises a standard of excellence in sustainable and environmentally conscious design, construction and operation.
Due to the level of complexity and detail required to meet this standard, this is an incredibly rare achievement in the retail space – to date only 19% of the 3,000 plus buildings certified by the Green Building Council of Australia are retail. And of these, only 3 retailers have achieved a Green Star rating using the Interiors tool, which L’Occitane is on track to join.
“The spirit in which L’Occitane is incorporating Green Star into their retail fit out is exemplary and testimony to how deep L’Occitane’s sustainability values run within their business,” said GBCA CEO, Davina Rooney.
The commitment to the opening of the Green Store is a testament to L’Occitane’s dedication to its sustainability mission and cements their position as leaders in the industry for reducing waste and supporting the environment.
“We are so proud of this achievement and the level of detail; from the materials through to the refill fountain; we collaborated across the whole company to think outside the box so that sustainability & reducing waste is at the centre of the Boutique, just like L’Occitane’s philosophy, it is in everything we do,” said L’OCCITANE Australia general manager, Pierre-Emmanuel Joffre.
New to the boutique is L’Occitane’s innovative Refill Fountain, a feature that has been rolled out in selected L’Occitane boutiques in the USA, Europe and Asia. This offers consumers the opportunity to refill some of their favourite products in their Forever Bottles.
Paving the way towards a plastic free future, these one-time purchase Forever Bottles are made from long-lasting, lightweight and 100% recyclable aluminium and allow consumers to significantly diminish their environmental footprint as well enjoy long-term financial benefits. With each refill of their forever bottle saving an average of 20%.
The innovative machine also features a pulsed light sterilisation system, which is calibrated to hygienically dispense the exact amount of product refill selected.
Another key feature of the store, both aesthetically pleasing and environmentally beneficial, is the living Green Wall. It has a fully integrated irrigation system that will act as a natural air-filter whereby the plants help metabolise toxins in the air, while simultaneously releasing oxygen.
The new L’Occitane Green Store is open from October 14, 2021.
