Highbrow: A look at brows in 2016

Sponsored article.

They’ve been taking over faces everywhere the last few years, and the statement brow is not set to go anywhere anytime soon. But while 2015 saw a harsher pencilled sculpted version be the brow of the moment, 2016 is set to lend its hand to a more natural look. And with it comes new tools to help perfect the style, such as the  .

To find out more, BD called on brand manager Niva Thongkham to tell us all about the 2016 brow and talk tools of the trade.

Do you think the big brow is here to stay?
Fuller, natural-looking brows can make you appear younger and who doesn’t want that? Big brows signify power and strength. Early adopters of the big brow trend include movie stars like Lauren Bacall, Audrey Hepburn and Brooke Shields. Now they’re back thanks to the likes of Cara Delevingne and Camilla Belle.

Where are we likely to see brows headed in 2016?
There are two brow trends that were the stand outs on the fashion week runways. The ‘boyish brow’ or ‘virgin brow’ trend and the ‘straight across brow’ or ‘Korean brow’ trend. The boyish trend is all about thick and full brows that often look like they haven’t even been brushed. The straight across brow trend is exactly that and has been popular in Korea for many years. The look is full with barely any arch and is said to mimic the way your brows looked when you were younger. Both brow trends will make you appear more youthful.

Will there be a place for the boy, feather and power brow in 2016?
The boyish brow will definitely still be prominent but I think that we are moving to a softer, more natural look. This goes hand-in-hand with the whole ‘no make-up make-up’ trend and fuller brows will be around for a long time yet!

Why did Face of Australia decide to develop a Brow Sculpting Gel?
Full brows have been popular in recent years and the trend isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! When we launched our HD Brow Kit a few years ago, it instantly became a bestseller and still is today. We wanted to offer our customers a range of different ways to groom their brows and wanted to develop an easy-to-use product that would give fuller, natural-looking brows.

Why is a brow sculpting gel a must-have in a girl's make-up kit?
Whether they want fuller brows, a subtle tint or just want to keep them in place, a brow sculpting gel can do exactly that – and in a matter of seconds.

What are the benefits of the Brow Sculpting Gel?
Face of Australia Brow Sculpting Gel is a volumising gel with micro-fibres that allows you to create thicker, defined brows. Brows are tinted, defined and brow hairs are kept in place all day long.

How does the Face of Australia version differ from other brow gels?
Our brow gel comes with an innovative brush that is easy to use and the advanced formula with micro-fibres adheres to your skin and hair to create fuller-looking brows. The precision tip brush is so easy to use and perfect for shaping and sculpting brows into the ideal shape.

What is the colour payoff in the gel?
The colour payoff is medium so it’s not too intense as we know that it’s easy to overdraw your brows. The formula is buildable so just apply more layers for even fuller-looking brows.

Has there been an increase in consumer demand for brow sculpting gels recently?
Definitely, especially volume building brow gels. It’s a quick and easy way to add fullness to your brows, just a few swipes and you’re done. No muss no fuss! Since brows frame the face, it’s critical that they look their best. It also helps to enhance your bone structure and completes your look.
