bdBLOG: Magic mirror

Mirror, mirror on the wall – which is the fairest look of all?

I love experimenting with make-up and am always willing to try out different products – as any of bd’s Twitter followers will know - so naturally I jumped at the chance to have a go on Shiseido’s revolutionary Makeup Simulator.

While the idea of taking a photo and having different make-up looks put on to it is not new – the Shiseido Makeup Simulator is a whole other kettle of fish.

The simulator, which will be on Shiseido make-up counters, encompasses new technology that identifies the facial features of the user with an installed face recognition device. It is the only machine that has succeeded in capturing movement and expression in real time while using virtual make-up application.

This device simulates make-up using moving images – it instantaneously updated the changes I made to my facial expressions such as closing my eyes and doing a fish face (yes, I did do these things – I wanted to see what it would do!). It was literally like I was looking into a mirror.

New technology makes the device’s screen seem like a mirror and a beauty consultant simply clicks on different eye palettes, lip shades and cheek colours to give shoppers the chance to try out a new look at the point of a finger.

Smoky eye? Point. Outrageous blues and yellows? Point. Natural browns? Point. The touch screen also lets you choose a natural or glamorous look and gives you the option of going lighter or darker with the chosen colours.

The exciting news for consumers is that next week they’ll be able to try Shiseido’s magic mirror” themselves with the Makeup Simulator available in Myer Sydney City from November 1 to 5.

For bookings, call the Shiseido counter at Myer Sydney City on (02) 9238 9407.
