Some sad news for Australian publishing with yesterday's announcement Grazia magazine is being closed down due to "marketing dynamics".
Grazia publishing partners Bauer Media and the Mondadori Group yesterday revealed they will be ceasing to publish the title, with the last issue going on sale February 25.
Unfortunately, despite everyone’s best efforts and the ongoing commitment of the team, market dynamics are not able to sustain Grazia’s weekly format. Bauer and Mondadori have therefore reluctantly concluded that Grazia is not commercially sustainable in this market," says Bauer Media CEO Matthew Stanton.
News of the magazine’s demise first hit the media yesterday morning in a story by the Australian Financial Review, with staff then informed about the closure during a lunchtime meeting.
Efforts are being made to find roles for staff on other Bauer titles, with editor Amy Molloy continuing to work on Bauer Media titles.
