State finalists were picked from two categories: the Color Award – which recognises exceptional colouring technique and Young Talent – open to hairdressers under 30-years old with a focus on haircut technique and finish, creative interpretation and trend refinement.

Judges for the awards include Mark Hayes and Edwards Darley from Vidal Sassoon UK, Bruno Giamattei from Marc Anthony and the Fame Team UK, Phillip Gallo from Gallo Hair, make-up artist Melanie Burnicle and Madison beauty director Stephanie Darling.

I judge many competitions – Creative Head Awards, British Hairdresser of the Year, North American Hairdressing Awards to name just a few. I can confidently say that Australia produces some of the best hairdressers in the world,” says Hayes. In comparison to last year there were more stand out entries - tasteful, contemporary, pushing the boundaries.”

The Trend Vision Awards will see new and established hairdressers showcase one of four trends including Polaris, Glamazon, Passionista and Lumina. There is also a People’s Choice Award that can be voted on at www.wellatrendviionpeopleschoiceawards.com.
