Pac Mags merging editorial teams

We saw it last year when Bauer Media merged its Dolly and Cleo teams, and now Pacific Magazines is following suit with the announcement that it is combining the editorial teams for teen publications Girlfriend and Total Girl.

Girlfriend and Total Girl editors Sarah Tarca and Amanda Nicholls will continue in their positions, with a combined editorial team working underneath them. The company will have individual discussions with staff today, with two roles being made redundant, according to Mumbrella.

In a statement Pacific Magazines director of magazines Peter Savecz reveals: While each title is successful and has a clear positioning, there are efficiencies in bringing the editorial into a shared unit, where there are synergies, particularly with our ongoing digital content focus. We will be building on each title’s strengths.”

On top of this announcement, Prevention magazine is being moved from a monthly publication to bi-monthly. The change will see a third staff redundancy made at Pac Mags.

Editor Jacqui Mooney and her team have a growing and loyal audience, and the change in frequency will allow them to continue to deliver the most relevant and engaging content and to explore a whole new range of opportunities. As part of this process, staff will be trained across any skill sets required for the new roles and for the positions moving forward,” says Savecz.

In other news, the publishing company has renewed the license agreement between itself and The Marie Claire Group in Paris for the publication of Marie Claire Australia.
