Award-winning hairdresser Frank Apostolopoulos, of Melbourne salon Biba, has added another feather to his cap, taking out the Label.M-sponsored award, Australian Hairdresser of the Year.
Held at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, the awards were held in conjunction with the re-launch of hair fashion publication The Journal (formerly Hairdressers Journal).
David Mannah, creative director of the awards and affiliate publication, played host to more than 300 guests who attended the awards, which weren’t short of star-studded guests. British singer-songwriter Natasha Bedingfield opened the event with an acoustic performance, while Laura Dundovic and actor Dan Ewing hosted proceedings.
Other award winners on the night include Igor Rosales-Jackson, who was named AHFA Creative Colourist of the Year 2013, which is sponsored by Goldwell Professional, and Lucas Dowling, who took out the AHFA Mens Hairdresser of the Year 2013, sponsored by American Crew.
Tonight was about new beginnings, an opportunity for new talent to shine, new faces to be seen and new friendships to kindle,” says Mannah. The AHFA’s are a true celebration of the collaboration between hair fashion creative. My irrefutable quest was to elevate the position of these awards as a destination point for those who strive to challenge themselves within the industry, to be the best they can be.”
