The verdict on whether Bauer Media Group’s bid to purchase APN News and Media Limited’s New Zealand magazine consumer titles is allowed to go ahead has been delayed until next year.
The Commerce Commission was due to make a decision on the purchase on Friday, however, the commission will now release its decision on January 31 in order to gain further information.
There are reports that as many as 30 staff at APN magazines will be made redundant if the sale goes ahead.
Under the agreement, all APN wholly-owned magazines brands, along with their digital properties, will belong to Bauer. These magazines include New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, The New Zealand Listener, Simply You, Simply You Living and Crème.
APN will continue to publish New Idea, That’s Life and Girlfriend magazines under licence from the Pacific Magazines Group Australia.
