This week, the bd team trial summer products - from suncare to tanning.
Natralus
This little tube of heaven is something you NEED to invest in. That’s a big claim, I know, but really - it fixes everything that pops up on your skin in summer! Whether you’re dealing with heat rash, mozzie bites, or sunburn, apply this baby and the skin is instantly soothed, and it leaves a cooling effect that reduces pain. The gel formula is rich in aloe vera, vitamin E and most importantly, organic paw paw, which works to soothe and restore damaged or irritated skin. I can’t recommend this product enough, and with a price point of $6.15, it’s well worth a try! - Maddie
Vita Liberata
I haven’t used a fake tan since I was 15 (and I’ll put it out there that was a good decade ago), and thanks to the orange-y disasters I had back then, I’ve been rather reluctant to give it another go. That being said, when I was asked to trial Vita Liberata (a brand loved by the likes of Kim Kardashian, Sofia Vergara and Giuliana Rancic), I knew that this would be a far cry from the tans I tried as a teenager! I was right. This tan is gorgeous! No streaks, no telltale smell, no orange tint and to top it all off, my skin feels beautifully moisturised! The mousse dried really quickly and had no lasting odour - which is great if you want to successfully fool people into thinking you’ve just come back from a holiday in the Bahamas. The best part about this product (as the name implies) is that it last 2-3 weeks, making it perfect to pop on before a holiday so you know you can relax and be a bronzed goddess all trip long. -Whitney
SunSense Sport Aerosol
I really don’t know what I did before sunscreen sprays landed on shelves, because there’s really no form of sunscreen better for me. I love a sunscreen spray because it’s easy to apply and achieve even coverage - and what’s even better about the SunSense Clear 50+ is exactly what its title suggests: it’s clear! This sunscreen revolutionises the heavy white cream that takes forever to rub in. The clear, lightweight mist is super easy to rub into the skin and disappears instantly so there’s no sunscreen to be seen. Magic, or just genius? While it sounds too good to be sunscreen, this gem still shields skin from the sun with 50+ protection. The bottle will fit into any beach bag and its spray function means no mess or spillage - Liz
Jurlique Jurlique Sun Specialist Sunless Tanner
Nothing makes me happier than applying a fresh coat of fake tan. I like to stick to natural-based tans that offer a bronzed, glowing finish, without looking too fake or orange in colour. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the Jurlique Sun Specialist Sunless Tanner, which has an added super berry complex and is ideal for use on the face and body. The sheer gel-lotion delivers an instant bronze yet natural-loooking glow, perfect for those last-minute parties!. It is formulated with sweet orange fruit extract that provides protection from environmental factors, so you know your skin is being looked after, too. I especially like the fact that you can gradually deepen the colour of your tan over time, just by applying a few more coats. - Vanessa
NIVEA SUN
I love a good, non-greasy 50+, and even more than that I love a spray-on sunscreen that takes the trouble out of application. Nivea Sun has nailed the aerosol bottle, with their new Ultra range perfecting the valve design to allow for a continuous and even spray - making the chance of getting a patchy tan or getting burnt in hard-to-reach places almost non-existent. The Ultra Beach Protect is an awesome beach buddy for the fast-approaching summer holiday. Water-resistant for four hours and super fast-absorbing, it doesn’t leave that sticky residue like a lot of spray-on sunscreens. The scent is subtle and with both UVA and UVB filters, it ticks all the right boxes. - Nat
