Jackie Frank steps down as marie claire editor

She’s been the editor of marie claire since it launched in Australia in 1995, but Jackie Frank’s time at the magazine’s helm is about to come to an end. marie claire’s publisher, Pacific Magazines, and Frank are currently on the hunt for her successor.

Frank will be taking up the position of publisher across fashion and health titles at Pacific Magazines. As well as editing marie claire for almost 20 years, Frank has been the magazine’s publisher since 2005 and has won numerous industry awards.

“It’s extremely emotional, but I think the time is right. We are in an industry that is undergoing a number of rapid changes and it is kind of exciting to be able to take a big picture approach, a more strategic approach, rather than the day-to-day,” Frank told Sydney Confidential.

“I am stepping off because I am taking up a group publishing role which will go across all fashion and health titles at Pacific. It’s very exciting. I am about to start the search for an editor of marie claire - obviously I’m still across marie claire as the publisher, I’m responsible for it."

On her replacement, Frank says: “I’m interested to see what [their] vision for the magazine would be - a pair of fresh eyes. I don’t want them to fill my boots - I want them to create their own; that is really important.”
