From body oils to foaming washes, the bd team get prepped to party.
It’s summer! The slouchy tops and warm jeans are stashed away and the strappy tops and short summer dresses have come out to play – hooray! With all that flesh on display, it’s imperative to keep the body moisturised. After a day at the beach (and a nice long shower), my skin is crying out for some hydration, so I’ve been treating myself to the Environ Skincare AVST A, C & E Body Oil. It’s renowned for its moisturising effect, making it perfect for dry skin conditions as well as sun damaged areas of the body (ideal for when you’ve been out in the sun a little longer than you know you should be – naughty!). Even though it’s an oil, thanks to its fine texture, I don’t mind popping it on my skin on warmer days. It also contains high doses of vitamins A, C & E, so I know my skin is being well and truly cared for. – Whitney
My oily skin creates more than the occasional breakout, so when it comes to skincare I tend to choose products that suit blemish-prone skin. When the Azclear Foaming Wash made its way to the BD office, I was more than happy to give it a go. I personally love this foam cleanser - it feels gentle and light on the skin, but it’s still nourishing. Once rinsed, it leaves the skin feeling super clean, but not at all dry. Along with being convenient, the pump bottle ensures you’re using the same amount every time (this is important with active cleansers because if you use too much, your skin may dry out). While I still had breakouts popping up, this cleanser worked to draw out impurities (including big blind spots) so they were no longer stuck under the skin for weeks. - Liz
Ah, nothing beats being hair-free. Some may disagree, but I don’t like/want hair anywhere on my body (mane and brows aside). But as they say, ‘beauty is pain’, and oh boy they weren’t lying! All that shaving, tugging and ripping of the skin can leave its mark - I’m talking ingrown hairs, redness, bumps and irritation. Luckily, this product helps to minimise and prevent all of that. The Nad’s Ingrow Solution contains anti-inflammatory green tea leaf extract and aloe vera to soothe red and irritated skin. My hair is naturally very curly, therefore this kind of detangling brush is my go-to. While you won’t spot me brushing my hair throughout the day, I do like to use a brush when I’m heat styling (which is pretty much every day!). This brush moves through my hair without causing it to frizz up, and is great for brushing through wet hair as well. It’s quite compact, and I can fit it in my handbag or keep it on my desk. The brush is designed with widely-spaced firm pins for detangling, and it is more than ideal for gentle styling. - Maddie
I’m usually quite skeptical about products that promise to ‘instantly erase wrinkles’ - it seems rather ambitious, and an awfully tough job for one pea-sized dollop to achieve. So when the Black Magic Facelift Instant Wrinkle Eraser by Skinov8 landed on my desk, I admit I rolled my eyes a wee bit. How wrong I was! I applied it to my problem areas and immediately felt a tightness that I imagine would be similar to the sensation of Botox. It contains collagen and peptides to enhance the overall appearance of skin for up to 10 hours, so it’s perfect for applying in the morning prior to makeup application. A much cheaper, safer and non-permanent solution to those half-yearly jabs! - Kelly
