bdTrial: BD gets healthy on the inside and out

The BD team trial a range of different health remedies.

Blackmores Women’s Vitality Multi
Lately, I found myself relying on three coffees to through the day. But when I started having extreme mood swings, I knew I had to do something about that, stat. So I’ve cut back and started taking the Blackmores Women’s Vitality Multi. Aptly named, it provides the optimum daily intake of vitamins, minerals and herbs. As women, we need more of certain beneficial ingredients than our male counterparts, so Blackmores has catered for that. The supplement doesn’t make me feel instantly energised in the way caffeine does, but I’ve noticed that I’m energetic and productive for longer, and not needing as much coffee to perk me up. - Jocelyn

In Essence Essential Oils
Once upon a time, an ex-boyfriend (note the ‘ex’ in this sentence) commented on the ‘cute dimples on your bottom’. Trust me, gents, we are AWARE of our cellulite. One of the many causes of cellulite is fluid retention and using essential oils is a fabulous way to combat this, as they are packed with natural health remedies. In Essence has an excellent range of oils, and I’ve been using a combination of them lately. Guess what? I’ve noticed a real difference in areas I usually hold excess fluid like my legs and bottom. Mix Juniper Berry Oil to aid fluid retention, Grapefruit Oil to assist the breakdown of body fats and Lemon Oil to cleanse and detoxify the body, and you have a winner. Here’s my prescription: Add two drops of each oil to 12mL Jojoba Oil and massage over the body using vigorous circular movements. Start from the feet and work towards the heart, focusing on problem areas such as the buttocks, stomach and thighs. Voila! - Kelly

Sun Warrior Protein Vanilla
I’m a very active person. I like to do triathlons and I’m training to beat my 2014 time in the Sydney City to Surf (I think I’m just a sucker for pain). All this exercise means I’m often ravenously hungry and dealing with sore muscles. That’s why I need a good protein powder that I can add to shakes when I’m on the run. Sun Warrior Protein is a clean, plant-based protein that assists in building health, immunity and controlling the body’s natural hormonal function. It also has no added chemicals so I don’t have to worry that I’m pumping my body full of nasties – and to top it off, it tastes good. It’s a winner! – Whitney

Nature's Way Whole Foods Vitamin D3
When it comes to multivitamins, I want to give my body the best of the best. As a long-time fan of Nature’s Way, I was very excited to trial the Natures Way Whole Foods Vitamin D3. Since I work in an office all day, it can be really hard to get the kind of natural sunlight my body needs to function at its optimum level. This is where a vitamin D tablet comes in - it ensures I get the vitamins I need, and I love knowing that Natures Way only uses natural plant sources and no chemically isolated products. It also supports bone health, calcium absorption and brain and nervous system function, so it ticks more than one box when it comes to taking care of my body!  - Vanessa

Grants Of Australia Liquid Chlorophyll
I tried to be good over the Christmas holidays. I really did. But there were end-of-year work parties, Christmas Day treats, my birthday, a wedding and a hen's party to enjoy - and so I did! I came back to work not just a little bit heavier, but in desperate need of a detox. Enter Grants of Australia Liquid Chlorophyll. Designed to increase energy and improve wellbeing (yes, please), it also works to promote healthy digestion while cleansing the body tissues of impurities and toxins. While it can be added to water, juice or green smoothies, I tended to go with water. The Liquid Chlorophyll gave the water a minty taste and delivered a fresh feel. I may not be on the road to a Victoria's Secret body, but I'm hoping to soon be back to my pre-Christmas self… - Yelena
