Australia not affected by Bonne Bell acquisition

You may have heard the news about Bonne Bell being acquired by American cosmetics company Markwins International, but don’t worry, this acquisition will have no effect on the sale of the cult teen brand Down Under. Founded in the US in 1927 by cosmetics salesman Jess Bell, is undoubtedly most famous for its range of fruity lip balms, Lipsmackers.

Australian general manager Taras Majba confirms Australian consumers will not need to change their shopping habits, saying: “The facts are that the Bonne Bell and Lipsmackers brand has been sold to Markwins International, who are one of the top 20 cosmetic companies in the States.”

“They have taken over distribution of the brand in the American market. For us here in Australia, and for our office in the EU, we have taken distribution agreements with Markwins for Lipsmackers so that we will continue with the brands in our markets as we do currently.”

In other good news for fans, Bonne Bell’s new owners have no plans to reduce or limit the availability of its products within the Southern Hemisphere.

“From the consumers’ point of view, they probably won’t notice any change. The product will continue to be available from the retailers we are working with here in Australia, and our forward plan remains in terms of all the exciting things we are doing,” adds Majba.
