The Daily Mail announce femail editor

After kicking off her publishing career in Australia as the news and features writer at Grazia Magazine, Andrea Magrath has returned Down Under to take up the position of acting femail editor at The Daily Mail. The role will see her producing local stories on fashion, beauty, health and lifestyle.

After moving overseas in 2010, Magrath worked on the MailOnline’s show business desks in London and LA, as well as the travel desk in London. She has also written extensively on food and travel in London, and founded website Some Kind of Wanderlust in 2014.

“I am thrilled to be joining the Daily Mail Australia team, having worked in both their London and LA bureaus. Femail is one of the most popular sections of the Daily Mail globally, and I am excited to launch it in Australia, with a focus on local content,” says Magrath.

Daily Mail managing director Peter Holder tells mUmBRELLA, “Andrea’s appointment builds on our already significant relationship with Australian women with relevant and engaged content. Andrea’s experience is perfect for our female audience who love fashion, gossip and lifestyle stories.

“Having worked in both print and online gives Andrea an edge as to what women of all demos enjoy reading. We are already publishing local Femail stories which will increase as we build the team over the coming months. It’s an exciting time for Daily Mail Australia and we are thrilled to have Andrea join our editorial team.”

Daily Mail Australia editor Luke McIlveen adds: “I’m delighted Andrea has agreed to head up our new Femail team. Her experience across lifestyle and celebrity in the UK and Australia will be a great asset to Daily Mail Australia. Our Femail content will fit seamlessly alongside our fantastic news and showbiz stories. After just a few days in the job, Andrea’s local Femail stories have already proved to be hugely popular with our readers.”
