Michelle Phan may be one of the top 10 YouTube earners of 2015 - and the highest earner in the beauty scene - but her reign may shortly come to an end with reports emerging she is taking a step back from her make-up channel.
Phan recently posted an open letter to her 8,000,000 YouTube channel subscribers admitting she has been posting less regularly as her responsibilities grow elsewhere, as have her interests outside cosmetics.
Her letter hinted the focus away from her original vlog will continue: “It's been a challenge maintaining my YouTube channel along with my other work life (I have four businesses I currently maintain). On top of that, I just added my comic book project to the list…
“I have other things I'd like to do too (outside of my YouTube channel). My videos cannot all be about make-up (this is why I created Ipsy for all you beauty junkies) but I'd love to post more things about life experiences, career advice, more trend reports, etc."
Expansion into other arenas was always a part of her original plan, with Phan recently telling CNN: “I wasn’t chasing fame, I was chasing a dream and that dream was to teach.”
