Net-a-Porter’s founder moves on

Net-a-Porter hit the headlines this year thanks to the unexpected departure of its founder and executive chairman Natalie Massenet. But the luxury goods queen has well and truly moved on from her self-made e-commerce empire, recently registering new company Imaginary Ventures Ltd. at Companies House, the official UK business registry.

At present Massenet remains sole director and shareholder of the new business, which was registered on October 14. It is unclear as to what direction Massenet will take with her new venture, as she signed a 12-month non-compete agreement with Net-a-Porter’s owner Compagnie Financière Richemont SA.

But a new business endeavour from Massenet would not come as a shock to the industry. Despite plans for her to remain executive chairman of of Net-a-Porter, Massenet severed all ties with her departure, commenting: “[It is] the right time for me to move on to explore new ideas and opportunities.”

She also revealed her entrepreneurial streak remains, saying: “[My entrepreneurialism] is as strong today as it always has been, and my passion for innovation will continue to be my greatest guide in business.”
