Seven new recruits join BD

The BEAUTYDIRECTORY family continues to grow in 2016, with seven new additions welcomed to the site in the past month. These new brands range from the ethically minded to Korean skincare favourites - BD takes a snapshot of each below.

Hair removal is at the heart of Marzena - a brand that targets easy to use, timesaving offerings that range from wax to cream. All products are made in New Zealand, in a manner that avoids using unnecessary ingredients and wastage.

ColourB4 is a brand addressing hair dye dilemmas - the hair colour removal company was developed in the UK as a safe way to rid the hair of undesirable shades. The clever invention reverses the dye process so colour can be washed away with ease at home.

As its name suggests, ethical practise is at the heart of the Ethique brand. Intent on ridding the world of plastic bottles, the brand crafts all of their products in compact bars - from fake tans, to shaving soaps and shampoo. 100 per cent vegan, the hair, face and body offerings are made in Christchurch using natural ingredients, as well as compostable, reusable packaging.

One brand with a particularly scientific start is Guinot. The French skincare line began in 1963 when chemical engineer Rene Guinot designed his first cleansing device using the galvanic current. Today the line continues to lean heavily towards a scientific approach to cosmetics, which target everything from anti-ageing, to rebalancing moisture levels and a men’s line.

The Aussie owned and made SugarBaby brand is the creation of dynamic sister duo Lizie and Nicci Clifton. Inspired by the island nation they call home, the colourful cosmetics range taps into the youthful sector of the industry, offering consumers an innovative lifestyle-based line of make-up and skincare. The brand is also vegan-friendly, not tested on animals and free from parabens and artificial fragrances.

The Byron Bay region is reputed for being hippie at heart with the community’s nature-loving mentality reflected in its growing number of local beauty brands. Byron Bay Skincare is one such brand - the 100 per cent natural range is inspired by the beautiful surrounding coastline of the district, crafting decadent skincare products from fine quality botanical ingredients, free from harsh chemicals.

Korea must have been the most influential nation when it came to beauty trends in 2015, thanks largely to the popularity boom of the cushion compact. Touch in Sol is a Korean brand bringing Eastern trends to the Western market with its affordable range of innovative skincare. The brand’s line of cosmetics combine botanical ingredients (like green tea) with cutting edge technology to fuse function and fun within its line of complexion perfectors and cleansers.
