Founding editor acquires women's website

Launched in 2012 with Angela Priestley as editor and Marina Go as publisher, Women's Agenda yesterday announced Priestley has acquired the website from Private Media. Priestley will be returning from her second stint of maternity leave to edit and manage Women’s Agenda, with the publication's current editor Jane Gilmore exiting the business as a result of the sale.

“There’s no one better equipped or motivated than Angela to take ownership of Women’s Agenda. She understands the audience because she’s part of it, and she understands the way professional women think and live. This is a significant moment for Women’s Agenda,” says Private Media chairman Eric Beecher.

Priestley adds: “I want to thank our editor Jane Gilmore for bringing her smart and savvy voice to the site over the past six months, and for all her hard work in supporting our audience, including via major redesign of the site to make it more reader-friendly.

“I also want to thank Eric Beecher, Private Media, and our former publisher Marina Go for having the foresight to back this publication for the past four years and to support its key mandate to create better workplaces and business environments for women.

“Our goal is to inform and entertain these women, and to share the news, views and advice that can help level the playing field for women at work. In the coming months we’ll be looking to consolidate some of our offerings and publishing efforts to ensure that everything we do meets the daily needs of this audience.”

The sale of Women's Agenda marks the third buyout in recent months for Private Media, with the company also selling off Property Observer and Daily Review. Private Media is the publisher of Crikey and The Mandarin.
