There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding who would head up Bauer Media following David Goodchild’s exit from the role, with the publishing company thrilled to announce it has appointed highly-experienced media executive Nick Chan into the position of chief executive officer across Australia and New Zealand.
Working in the publishing industry for more than three decades, Chan previously held the role of chief operating officer at Seven West Media, as well as CEO at Pacific Magazines for 10 years prior to that. Chan began his career at ACP Magazines, acquired by Bauer Media in 2012, where he rose to the position of chief operating officer during his 18 years with the company.
On top of his CEO duties for Bauer Media, Chan will be responsible for heading up the digital division Bauer Xcel Media, content business BauerWorks, Bauer Trader Media, and Bauer Books.
“We are delighted Nick is joining Bauer Media to head our Australia and New Zealand operations. His understanding of the media market and leadership experience is extensive and he brings that knowledge to Bauer at an exciting time in the company’s development,” says Bauer Media interim CEO Andreas Schoo.
“Having run media businesses for many years, Nick is aware of the challenges facing the industry and publishers in particular and he has shown great strategic insight into how to best manage this evolution. As a multi-platform media business spanning magazines, digital and live experience, I believe he is best placed to ensure the future prosperity of Bauer Media.”
Chan adds: “Bauer’s portfolio of magazine brands, digital properties and events are second to none in Australian media. I’m excited by the opportunity to work with these special brands and the talented teams that drive these assets.”
Chan will begin in the role mid-year following completion of his current commitments.
