Media mogul Arianna Huffington has set her sights on the wellbeing sector with plans to launch a start-up focused on the growing arena. Advertising Age has reported Huffington is already in talks with investors regarding the new media company called Thrive.
The company will showcase lifestyle content contributed by a smorgasbord of celebrities and bloggers. It is also believed a wellness consulting service will be integrated. It is a similar collaborative process that Huffington used to launch very successful The Huffington Post in 2005 – which saw contributions made by celebrities and journalists alike. AOL bought the company off Huffington last year for $US315 million, though she remains on as editor-in-chief.
The emergence of Thrive is the latest in a series of business developments for Huffington, who earlier this year released her third book The Sleep Revolution, as well as joining the board of directors at Uber Technologies.
