Male grooming continues its rise

A recent report from Roy Morgan Research reveals that lads are no longer leaving grooming to the girls. Male grooming is continuing its steady rise, with 3.7 million Aussie men purchasing at least one skincare product in the past six months.

This proportion is 37.9 per cent of the male population. And while this number pales in comparison to women’s 83.7 per cent, the study reflects a growing interest from the masculine sex in beauty.

As for what exactly – hand and body lotion remains the most popular product, with 26.8 per cent of the male population making a purchase. This is ahead of facial moisturiser at 21.5 per cent and cleanser at 17.8 per cent.

Age is another determining factor in product of choice – those under 25 are more likely to buy cleanser than hand and body lotion (at 24.7 per cent compared to 24.2 per cent). Those aged 25-34 are more likely to choose hand and body lotion (31 per cent), moisturiser (27.4 per cent) or facial cleanser (26 per cent) as their first pick.
