Acknowledging the growth of the online marketplace, The Australian has decided to expand its digital subscription globally to include revered publication The Wall Street Journal.
The newspaper announced to its audience: “From today, all of The Australian’s new and existing digital subscribers will not only have access to the nation’s leading news coverage and analysis, but will also have greater access to the world’s leading journalism with a digital subscription to The Wall Street Journal. In addition to regularly featured WSJ content, this new offering from The Australian delivers additional value to members who will now have digital access to The Wall Street Journal on wsj.com, on iOS and Android, and via ePaper.”
The Australian’s global offering follows news of the paper’s circulation surpassing 170,000 for the first time in its history. This growth follows on a 14.5 per cent year-on-year increase in digital subscriptions.
Dow Jones MD international Jonathan Wright says this is just the beginning of collaborative opportunities between the two major publications: “We’re delighted to introduce The Wall Street Journal to The Australian’s sophisticated audience. As the definitive global source for business, political, finance, economic, and technology news, The Journal delivers essential access to US and world news providing an ideal companion to local titles such as The Australian with its essential domestic coverage. We look forward to exploring a number of mutually beneficial opportunities to collaborate on.”
