bdTrial: July favourites

The BD team spill on their monthly faves.

If Jo Malone was a religion I would be devout. I have long worshipped the brand’s candles, and now my love for the brand is only set to grow with my discovery of the Body Creme. The smokey scent of dark amber mingles with ginger lily in a musky moisturiser that enhances my perfume, or provides my limbs with a subtle scent as well as a heavy dose of hydration. - Sarah

When one of the boys’ boys tells you they’ve upped their sunscreen game because “sun is such a skin ager” – you know the message is starting to spread that sunscreen not only protects from cancer, but also wrinkles. Unfortunately I did not get this message strongly enough when growing up, but am now doing my utmost to make sure I prevent any future damage. And my arsenal of choice? The Cancer Council Face Day Wear Matte SPF 50+. It absorbs easily, has a beautiful lightweight texture, is non-sticky and quick-drying, as well as offering moisturising benefits. When it comes to sun protection, this gets my gold star. - Yelena

I’m not tanning as much during the colder months but I find when I do, it’s harder to get it off as my skin is so dry and then the tan gets all patchy. The Coffee Body Scrub by ModelCo does an absolute boss of a job at sloughing away that super gross patchiness, leaving fresh and smooth skin underneath – all ready for the next time it’s time to tan! - Kelly

The years of colouring my hair have definitely taken a toll on my tresses, so trialling the URBAN TRIBE Nourish Treatment Fluid is perfect for me. I applied it to my damp hair after shampooing, left it on for about five-10 minutes and washed it out. My hair felt stronger and instantly softer, and with ingredients such as keratin and shea butter, I can only imagine how my hair will benefit from continued use. - Laura

CIRCA
To me, scents are synonymous with relaxation. If I’m having a bad day, I’ll spritz myself with a mood-boosting fragrance. If I’m tucking into a good book at night, I’ll light a calming candle. And  if I’m expecting visitors, I’ll bring out my wax burner to send a fresh olfactory delight through my apartment. There’s just one problem – I’m terrified of fire. So every time I light a candle to melt the scented wax, I experience intense anxiety that’s far from the relaxation I had in mind. Luckily Circa Home has managed to combat my pyrophobia predicament with their Home Electric Wax Warmer. With up to 96 hours of fragrance per tray of melts (I’m currently enjoying the delicious Créme Brûlée blend), the electric warmer offers a soft glow when turned on while delivering a beautiful high-quality fragrance, minus the flame. - Ally
