True insights into the natural and organic market

There's no arguing the natural and organic beauty industry is going gangbusters. In fact, a report by Grand View Research predicts the organic personal care market will be worth $US15.98 billion by 2020. 

To gain better insight into this growing industry, beautyheaven recently surveyed 1375 beauty aficionados to find out consumers' attitudes towards organic and natural products at a grassroot level. And it seems the natural and organic industry is thriving locally, with 90 per cent of participants owning at least one natural or organic product. 

Upon being asked their thoughts on the top three factors in classifying a product as “natural”, 74 per cent thought it must contain only natural ingredients, while 46 per cent believed it needed a stamp of official certification. 

It was similar numbers when looking at products classified as “organic”. The survey recorded 81 per cent of respondents believe the products must contain only organic ingredients, while 54 per cent felt they should contain no parabens, chemical sulphates, phthalates, petrochemicals or mineral oils.

When it came to the top priority for participants in purchasing natural and/or organic products, 49 per cent revealed they are going natural because they want products that aren’t tested on animals.

Other insights were gathered that delve deeper into these results, including specifics across the hair, skincare and make-up categories and the real reasons consumers aren’t using natural or organic products.
