Following the recent departure of long-term editor Yelena Fairfax, BEAUTYDIRECTORY has welcomed a new captain of the ship in the form of Georgina Haigh. BD is excited to welcome Haigh to the team, who brings with her plenty of experience from the commercial realm, having moved across from the custom publishing department of Pacific Magazines. Haigh discusses her new role below:
What is your career history?
Before I moved to Australia I was in London working as an online fashion writer for a couple of retailers, Cocosa and Reiss. I still have a real soft spot for the latter and am delighted to see it now stocked in David Jones! After I relocated to Sydney I worked at a digital marketing agency before I took a role at Pacific Magazines in their custom publishing department. There I edited a number of print publications across food, health and fashion for brands such as HCF and the VRC.
What will your new role entail?
In my role as editor I'll be looking after the overall running of BEAUTYDIRECTORY which will include sourcing, writing, editing and uploading articles, as well as assisting with any technical developments. I'll be in charge of the PR Directory so will be on hand to make any necessary changes or respond to queries in that area too. Lastly, I'll be attending lots of events and may be required to take a few snaps while I'm there so I had better start brushing up on my photography skills!
What are you most looking forward to?
Although I'm a complete and utter product hoarder, I've only really dipped my toe into beauty previously so I'm excited to see what the industry has to offer from a career perspective. I have very high hopes! I've always loved keeping up with how businesses change and develop, what new products they are bringing to the market and why, so it will be fascinating to report on all that. Above all I'm excited to work with the team here, from what I've witnessed so far they are incredibly knowledgable and a very lovely bunch!
