Coty’s Rimmel London has announced its new Global Makeup Ambassador, with the top job going to makeup artist James Molloy.
Molloy is largely known for his work with designers like Stella McCartney and Proenza Schouler; and there are hopes that the former M.A.C UK senior artist and director of makeup artistry (Asia-Pacific) will give the brand an edge in mass market cosmetics.
While known for its bold, edgy aesthetic and mass marketing of colour cosmetics, Molloy is hoping to draw a younger generation of shoppers to the Rimmel London brand; as well as have a hand in new product development.
Rimmel London vice president of global marketing, Montse Passolas, said in a statement: “James has spent some time abroad, which has given him an impressive and open-minded view on beauty.
“His connection and understanding of the new digitally savvy modern consumer that embraces different looks based on her ever-evolving persona drove us immediately to James.”
Further, vice president of US marketing, Chandra Coleman, confirmed their hopes for Molloy to bring more the brand, adding: “drawing on his passions for art, fashion and makeup, James will bring his unique creative vision to Rimmel.”
