Instagram has introduced new messaging tools to make it easier for businesses to talk to consumers.
New features include inbox management/filtering capabilities – so businesses can now ‘star’ and filter messages as an easy reminder to follow up on later; a blended inbox of important new customer messages in your main direct messaging inbox – instead of in the pending folder; and quick replies – in the coming weeks, Instagram will begin testing quick replies so that businesses can easily to respond to common questions.
Instagram has also introduced new profile buttons that enable consumers to get more from business profiles and make simple one-click actions without leaving the app, such as ‘buy tickets’ and ‘reserve.
"We're taking steps to turn Instagram from not just a place of business discovery but really a place where business can get done," Instagram director of product Vishal Shah told CNBC. The features will roll out slowly over the next few weeks.
