Could you please tell us a bit more about yourself and your background in the industry?
My journey into skincare started with two years of formal training as an international spa therapist/aesthetician. I had already developed a fascination with herbs, beauty rituals and their benefits on the skin from a young age and was constantly experimenting with making various concoctions. My training was very European. I was lucky enough to learn about both holistic bath and body therapies alongside the latest facial techniques; as well as herbal studies. Following the completion of my training I worked as a spa therapist, managing and consulting in spas across Australia and the USA. During this time I completed an Associate Diploma in Clinical Aromatherapy and a Bachelor of Health Psychology.
What drew you to working with Jurlique?
After living overseas I returned to Adelaide and was working in a spa that used a premium skin care brand. I had a large following of facial clients that I performed both holistic and cosmeceutical treatments on. I started noticing some of them were using a few Jurlique products on their skin and was stunned by the amazing results they were achieving! I did some research on the company and loved the fact that they were an international brand with a herb farm and production facilities in the beautiful South Australian Hills. I very promptly booked myself in for a Jurlique facial and just adored it. Soon after I approached the business about opportunities and the rest is history.
Which trends or innovations are you excited by right now?
I’m loving the masking trend right now – to perform quick boosting treatments at home with different masks, on different areas of the skin, for instant results. I personally use a number of masks two to three times per week and notice the difference in my skin if I skip one. They are a great way to supercharge your skin care ritual!
In the beauty industry the vitamin C product innovation is definitely here to stay. Traditionally vitamin C has been a challenging ingredient to work with without the addition of other ingredients to stabilise it due to volatility and sensitivity to heat and light. High concentrations can irritate the skin because of its acidic nature. I’m very excited about the different forms of plant based Vitamin C that Jurlique use in our products. We manage to get the high concentrations required for excellent skin results in stabilised plant based formulations which is quite an achievement.
Your new Herbal Recovery Signature range has just launched. What does herbal recovery mean?
The Herbal Recovery range has always been iconic to Jurlique and now its evolution and technical advancements see it creating results on the skin like we have never seen before. Herbal Recovery has always been about providing the skin with a fusion of the very best concentrated botanicals to fight skin fatigue and treat the first and visible signs of ageing. For customers looking for the Jurlique glow, the Herbal Recovery range is the perfect place to start.
What are the hero ingredients?
The hero ingredients are Viola Tricolor to provide antioxidant protection and promote radiance, and Yarrow extract to rejuvenate. Each product step in the ritual has its own hero botanical in addition to Viola and Yarrow, with our star product, Herbal Recovery Signature Serum, containing Red Clover to firm skin.
Could you please explain the benefits of botanicals?
Botanicals are not all created equally which is why we have the Jurlique organic farm. The methods used to grow, harvest and extract the botanicals directly contributes to their quality and ultimately the results they are able to achieve on the skin. Jurlique have combined time honoured methods with the latest technical formulation expertise to take the efficacy of our botanicals to new heights unparalleled in the industry.
What this means for our customers is that from the planting of the seeds that grow our botanicals to the application of the concentrated skin care products during the product ritual, they can be assured of the highest quality and the exceptional benefits they will experience on their skin.
What’s one thing you wish people knew about natural skincare?
That you can see clinically proven anti-ageing and hydration results on the skin, with the right natural skin care, from a reputable brand that supersedes those that you will experience from less natural skin care ranges or those with high amounts of synthetic ingredients.
What’s your top tip for someone starting out using natural skincare?
Have your skin professionally analysed before you make your first purchase. With natural skin care we treat and support the skin slightly differently so your normal cleanse, tone and moisturise routine may not always be the way to go with natural skin care. Also no two skins are alike and therefore to make sure you start with the best products for your skin it is best to have a professional provide you with a personalised recommendation that is suited to the uniqueness of your skin.
