Business of Fashion has this morning reported on rumours that Frédéric Fekkai is preparing to buy back his namesake haircare brand, with a deal expected to close on October 31.
The brand, that sells a range of haircare and styling products, has had numerous owners over the past few years including P&G and a joint venture controlled by Designer Parfums and Luxe Brands. Each, it's thought, have struggled to turn around declining sales.
Frédéric Fekkai now lives with his wife in the South of France, and last year the pair launched a brand called Bastide. Rather than haircare, the Mecca-stocked Bastide focuses on fragrances and body products inspired by the creations of local French artisans.
BoF reported that financial terms of Fekkai’s offer to buy back the brand were not disclosed, "though the company is likely worth a fraction of what P&G paid a decade ago, industry analysts said."
