According to reports by WWD and British Vogue, Gucci is set to make a return to the beauty sector with a relaunched line of cosmetics – starting with a brand new range of lipsticks.
Under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele, the makeup collection will reflect and complement the look and feel the Italian fashion house already exhibits in its fashion and perfume spheres.
“The aesthetic of Alessandro – the color, texture, imagery – can be easily well-reflected in beauty in a very cohesive and coherent way,” Gucci president and CEO, Marco Bizzarri, told WWD. “He really loves and has a great knowledge of fragrance and beauty.”
In total, the lipstick collection consists of 56 products: 36 shades with a satin finish, 18 pop-colour hues with a luminous finish, and lip balms that are available in three colors and one transparent version. The shade names also take a cue from old-time Hollywood actors and films.
The lipsticks will launch on May 4 on Gucci.com and in selected New York boutiques. Stay tuned to BD for more info on the brand's other cosmetics lines.
