Actress and model, Brooke Shields, is suing Charlotte Tilbury over claims the brand has used her name to sell products without consent.
Shields, whose enviable eyebrows have become part of her signature look, has said she did not give the brand permission to use her name and is seeking disgorgement of profit and damages for violating her rights of publicity.
Charlotte Tilbury currently sells an eyebrow pencil named Brooke S, and in addition to seeking damages from the cosmetics brand, Shields is said to be suing a handful of retailers for selling the product, including JC Penney, Sephora, Bloomingdales, Nordstorm, Beautylish, Bergdorf Goodman and YNAP.
According to PEOPLE, she spotted the product while out shopping earlier this year and was "shocked" to discover her name on the packaging.
“Brooke Shields’s career as a model, actress, author, and entrepreneur spanning decades has made Brooke (and her eyebrows) a household name,” Shields’ lawyer Alex Weingarte told PEOPLE. “Charlotte Tilbury and its related retailers have attempted to profit off of Brooke’s signature look by stamping Brooke’s name on an eyebrow pencil without her consent. This is an egregious violation of Brooke’s rights, which we will litigate vigorously to vindicate.”
The Charlotte Tilbury Brow Lift Eyebrow Pencils are all named after other notable celebrities like Grace K (for Grace Kelly) and Naomi (for Naomi Campbell). The same goes for her Hot Lips lipsticks, that are called Kim K.W., Liv It Up (inspired by Liv Tyler) and Kidman's Kiss.
