The Daily Telegraph’s weekly BW Magazine has ceased publication, with most of its content being moved across to the current Saturday Xtra section.
According to The Daily Telegraph editor, Ben English, the new Saturday Xtra is a “more commercially attractive space for advertisers.”
“Saturday Xtra is one of the most popular features of our Saturday paper,” he said. “And with expanded pagination, it will have more stories and more sections, covering hard-hitting news, in-depth coverage of issues, deep dives on big news stories, profiles of interesting people, opinions, letters and crosswords.
This news follows the announcement of the resignation of Jeni O’Dowd as the editor of the Saturday edition of BW Magazine and The Daily Telegraph. Set to depart News Corp in early July, O’Dowd has been the only editor of BW Magazine – which launched back in 2016.
A News Corp spokesperson confirmed that The Daily Telepgraph’s opinion editor, James Morrow, will continue as editor of Saturday Xtra. Most of the BW Magazine team has been assigned to other roles in the masthead and around the company.
