Hello May, an independently published magazine for the non-bridal bride, is on the hunt for a wonderful features writer to undertake a 12-month maternity leave contract. You'll have a love of travel, fashion, beauty, and of course - weddings!
Please note knowledge of or experience in the bridal industry is absolutely NOT ESSENTIAL, in fact, Hello May don't mind if you've had none at all.
Hello May don't do cheesy relationship advice or gag-worthy features on the best dress for your body type - we prefer to focus instead on the creative folk who make up the industry, as well as travel, fashion, beauty, and laugh-out-loud opinion pieces.
Working three days a week from the Southern Sydney workshop, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Curating content for our daily blog
- Writing blog features and editing and uploading photos
- Interviewing industry professionals (designers, photographers etc)
- Researching and writing editorial features (travel, beauty, fashion, real weddings) for our quarterly publication and annual special
- Curating, organising and styling fashion editorials
Best suited to a media/communications/journalism human being, current features writer or online editor with a love for blogging, social media and:
- A conversational writing tone (we don't take ourselves too seriously here at Hello May).
- The ability to spot a spelling, punctuation, or grammar error a mile away (we are sure there are many in this advertisement).
- A can-do attitude.
- Experience using WordPress and the Adobe creative suite will be considered a bonus.
- Has a good eye for a great photo
Work days and hours are flexible so the job could also be ideal for new mum's looking to return to the workforce. Other bonuses include:
- Relaxed office environment
- Close to jogging track and gym
- Small and friendly team
Please apply below with a cover letter explaining why you'd be a great fit for Hello May (no 'fill in the blanks' cover letters) and your resume.
Applications close August 6, 2021. Only successful candidates will be contacted for interviews.
