Time magazine has recently unveiled its top new innovations for 2022, with the products being part of the publication’s annual The Best Inventions list.
The categories range from beauty to gaming and parenting, but previous cosmetic invention winners included the likes of Supergood sunscreen, Everist waterless hair care, Dyson hair straighteners and Fenty Beauty's foundation range.
This year saw beauty winners such as new home hair dye technology to body wash sheets.
Below, we round up the full list of beauty innovations.
1. Hourglass Cosmetics, Confession Lipstick Red 0
“A classic red lip has long been out of reach for vegans, thanks to the makeup industry’s reliance on carmine, a pigment made from crushed insects that until recently had been impossible to replicate,” said Time magazine.
Luckily, after three years of research, Hourglass Cosmetics has discovered a patent-pending carmine alternative that delivers the same brilliant red hue. Named Red O, the lipstick provides richly saturated colour with a satin finish.
2. Plus, Body Wash Sheets
It’s no secret that the beauty industry has a problem with plastics. That’s why Plus has created body wash sheets donned in water-soluble sachets, that are made of wood pulp from responsibly managed FSC forests. This makes these sheets the first mass-retail fully dissolvable, waterless body wash.
Simply open a sheet and remove the dehydrated cleanser, wet it and watch as it transforms into a moisturising lather while the packaging dissolves down the drain.
3. Therabody, Theraface Pro
Therabody has launched a new multi-use face massaging tool that helps relieve tension in the face, jaw, neck and head. It also features skin-toning microcurrent rejuvenation light therapy.
The tool comes equipped with a Microcurrent Ring, a LED Light Therapy Ring (Red, Blue, & Infrared Light), a Cleansing Ring and the TheraOne Conductive Gel.
4. Droplette, Micro-infuser
This physics-powered device is designed to transform skincare ingredient capsules into a powerful micro-mist. This enables products to penetrate the skin more effectively, helping to keep it moisturised and hydrated.
5. Zuvi, Halo Hair Dryer
Hair care brand Zuvi’s Halo Hair Dryer utilises patented LightCare technology that dries the surface of the user’s hair, protecting the moisture within the hair shaft.
The dryer can also increase the hair’s internal moisture by 109%, making it smooth, shinier and providing longer colour retention.
6. L'Oréal, Colorsonic
This lightweight, hand-held device uses an innovative, mess-free process to mix hair colour and apply it evenly.
It works by using a custom mixer mechanism to combine a precise amount of developer and formula to create a hair colour.
It is also designed to help deliver consistent hair colour for perfect at-home results.
