In today's dynamic world of digital influencer where creativity and authenticity reign supreme, the relationship between influencers and brands has become an integral part of the marketing landscape. But how can influencers ensure they stand out? It can be difficult, competing with so many content creators, which is why, we went straight to the source.
BEAUTYDIRECTORY delved into the mind of Daniella Khalil, Senior Public Relations Manager from Coote Agency. Khalil is a PR expert and has offered invaluable insight on not just getting on to their coveted lists, but also staying there and flourishing in the partnership. See our interview below.
BEAUTYDIRECTORY: What can influencers do to ensure they stand out.
Daniella Khalil: Know their audience and stay true to their content! If you have found your niche and are inspiring others through your channels it strengthens your credibility and reputation when brands are looking to partner. We love seeing the real you showcased in your content!
BD: As a PR professional how do you determine who makes it on your lists or not?
DK: There are a lot of factors, to consider. My top determining are as below:
Showing brand loyalty: We love to see you in your element creating with brands and products you enjoying using. This will give us as PR professionals some insight into your personal brand ethos and allow us to better align you with brands that we think could be a good fit.
Keep your content relevant & exciting: We love to see your take on trends, and what sets you apart from other creators.
Build your following: We aren't always looking at the number of followers you have but much rather how you engage with your followers and inspire them with what you create.
BD: What is the best way to get on a PR list?
DK: Approach us! First and foremost, it is always great to know the best PR contact for the brands you want to work with! A little bit of research goes a long way. Introducing yourself to PR's and Agencies and sharing a visual portfolio is a great way to showcase your personal brand and build relationships.
BD: Once an influencer is on a PR list, how can they ensure they stay on the PR list?
DK: By staying relevant and creating exciting content! Again, this goes back to brand loyalty we always take notice.
Alot of PR agencies also have open showrooms throughout the week, I know from working at Coote Agency we always love setting up creator dates where influencers are free to schedule an appointment and explore the brands that the agency works with! This is a great way to stay connected to the PR and agency team.
BD: Would you be okay with an influencer reaching out themselves and requesting product?
DK: Yes we are always open to influencers reaching out!
"If you never ask, the answer will always be no." I always encourage you to introduce yourself and share links to your content or portfolio. We are always happy to partner or provide sampling opportunities where we think it is a good fit. Don't be discouraged if it doesn't happen right away - patience is key.
