Who: Kate Sylvester
When: 10 am, April 15. The Runway, Carriageworks.
Hair: Richard Kavanagh for Redken
Hair style: "Kate's show today is all about Romeo and Juliette - but not the classic tale, more like Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliette. They're very beautiful and youthful but are cool rock and roll kids. There's two looks - a Romeo and a Juliette. We've got some of our girls being girls and some being boys. The Juliettes are very feminine, the hair is being prepped with a bristle brush and Diamond Oil. It's being blowdried and polished and then we're working with a large curling iron to put the subtletest of bends into the hair. It's a centre parting and then it's twisted back and secured at the back of the head with a cross shape with two pins. That cross motif is running all the way through from the hair, to the make-up, set and the clothes. The Juliette look is very soft, whimsical and romantic. Our Romeos are much tougher, they're rock and roll. The hair has been prepped with Diamond Oil and blowdried into a beautiful condition - so it's all about the luxury. We're then taking some Rough Paste and are just pushing the hair back off the face as if a dude with slightly long hair got some hair oil and ran his hands through his hair - so he feels cool and tough and effortless but still luxurious," says Richard Kavanagh.
Make-up: Naomi McFadden for M.A.C
Make-up style: "We've got two make-up looks today, we've got Romeos and Juliettes. The look we're trying to achieve for the Juliettes is that innocent first love, that just been kissed look. We've gone really minimal on the skin. She looks like she's glowing from within, so we've accentuated highlights, we've only concealed where they need it, and there's going to be a natural flush rising up from the cheekbone. We have a really soft contour in the natural shadow of the eye and a bitten lip. For our Romeos, we wanted them to look as masculine as possible. They're quite androgynous, we've gone minimal on the skin, concealed where needed, and chosen a feature to accentuate - and that's their brows. We've really focused on the brows, filled them in and brushed them up. Throughout the whole collection there is a cross motif, so we've given them a little cross on the face just to add another element," says Naomi McFadden.
