Contests for supermodels and survivors are a dime a dozen, but those hoping to crack the beauty industry are rarely offered the same kind of opportunity to showcase their talents. That’s about to change, thanks to the announcement of The Brush Contest.
L'Oréal Paris is hosting the competition, which is the world’s first international make-up designer contest. It will exclusively take place via YouTube, congregating contestants from 13 countries around the globe, including Australia, Canada, USA, France, UK, Germany, Thailand, Italy and Turkey.
The Brush Contest will run for four months. The winner will score the coveted title of ‘L'Oréal Paris make-up designer’ plus a one-year contract with the brand, valued at $AUD140,000.
In addition, the winner will have the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes as one of the brand's official make-up artists for the 68th annual Cannes International Film Festival. The winner will be invited to work with some of L'Oréal Paris' celebrity beauty ambassadors.
The competition is open to professionals, amateurs, bloggers, vloggers and YouTubers - you need only be at least 16 years of age and harbour a passion for the beauty industry.
Registration for the Australian part of the competition closes on February 15. The public will be able to vote for the top 50 videos online (via The Brush Contest website) from February 16 until March 23.
Beauty boot camps and mentoring from the brand’s colour experts will follow. The aim of these is to train the contestants so they can confidently compete at the grand final in May. Hosted by L'Oréal Paris star spokesperson, Eva Longoria, the event will be broadcast live from Paris via YouTube.
