Hair Expo 2016 was not just a roaring success on the beauty circuit, but also proved a winner among events of its kind Australia-wide, earning the Best Exhibition of 2016 title at the Australian Event Awards.
The night celebrates the most outstanding occasions in Australia, with the winners selected by an independent industry judging panel, including co-chair Sandy Hollway.
She comments of this year’s entrants: “The strength of all entries in this year’s Event Awards is a testament to the winners announced last night. Winners this year have shown an impressive ability to bring creative, engaging concepts to life, and to surmount constraints and obstacles to deliver incredible experiences to attendees at a vast array of public and private events both in Australia and overseas.”
Hair Expo Event Director Julia Erben was flattered by the win. She says: “We are delighted to receive this recognition from an independent organisation. Normally we’re the one handing out awards, so it’s exciting to be on the receiving end!”
Hair Expo’s win followed its first Melbourne-based show, which Erben says was an unexpected success. “Having taken the risk of moving the Expo to Melbourne for the first time, we could not be happier with the outcome. Not only was it the biggest and most successful Hair Expo ever, with a 35 per cent increase in exhibitors and a 37 per cent increase in visitor numbers, but it has now been named best exhibition of the year.”
Erben confirms Melbourne will be a part of the expo’s future, saying: “We also recognise the role that staging the event in Melbourne played in our success and we’re excited to announce that going forward, we will host Hair Expo in Sydney and Melbourne on alternate years.”
