What’s landed on our desks: High-light it up

With highlighters and illuminators being a key trend this season, the BD team put a few of the best through their paces.

Alluring Minerals Mineral Baked Blush – Steph
What it is: A marble-effect, baked mineral blush that is formulated with natural botanical extracts and colorants.
My experience: This swirl of mineral pigments look just as great on the skin as they do in the compact. I love that I can target different areas of the powder to get slightly different hues for cheeks and eyes. The powder is really creamy and blends effortlessly into the skin, perfect for adding a touch of radiance and glow to brighten up skin.

Estée Lauder The Illuminator Radiant Perfecting Primer + Finisher – Zoe
What it is: A multipurpose primer and finisher in one.
My experience: There probably isn’t an illuminating primer out there that I don’t already have in my arsenal, but the Estée Lauder Illuminator Radiant Perfecting Primer + Finisher managed to escape me! However, I’m so glad we’ve been united as my skin was instantly hydrated, smooth and bright with a dewy, healthy-looking finish. The fact that it’s also a finisher was great as my skin was ready for touch ups throughout the day.

Benefit Dandelion Twinkle – Sam
What it is: A highlighter and illuminator that has been formulated with baked technology, resulting in an extremely light textured, soft nude-pink powder.
My experience: I’m yet to find a Benefit product that I haven’t liked and this gorgeous Dandelion Twinkle highlighter was no exception! The colouring is a really light pinkish hue with enough sparkle to make a statement without that high beam effect that can sometimes be a bit much for day wear. The colour is also pink enough that it could also be used as a subtle pretty blush moving into Spring.

Napoleon Perdis Light Switch Luminizer Palette – Caitlin
What it is: A face palette with five highlighting and illuminating shades to give the complexion a healthy, natural glow.
My experience: With five shades - from a light, shimmering pink to a deep bronze - I used this palette as an eyeshadow, highlighter and even used a little on the apples of my cheeks. It’s highly pigmented for true color payoff, and the creamy formula melts into skin for a dewy finish.

Nutrimetics nc Marble Rouge – Tash
What it is: A mineral-baked highlighting and bronzing powder duo to add depth and contouring to the face and décolletage.
My experience: I am a big fan of mineral-baked products and this Nutrimetics nc Marble Rouge is no exception. The mixture of pigments in Marble Rouge Jupiter, help to hide skin redness and add depth to my face without any harsh contour lines. It blends seamlessly and provides a natural shimmer, in a truly universally flattering shade. The more I use this product the more I become addicted as I pick up different parts of the pigment to play around with the light and shade.

essence light up your face luminizer palette – Issy
What it is: A face palette consisting of three highlighter shades.
My experience: These shades are beautiful and really compliment my olive skin. I used the middle pink shade to brighten under my eyes, the matte brown shade on my cheekbones to give definition and used the remaining bronze shade to add shimmer and brighten my overall complexion. The result was glowy and healthy looking skin.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Highlighting Dome  – Vanessa
What it is: A cute and quirky bronze highlighter
My experience: I love this bronze illuminator, it’s perfect for applying on my cheeks, eyes, and lips too! The colour is a gorgeous bronze shimmer, which gives a natural-looking glow and the creamy consistency works perfectly heading into summer as it’s nice and light on the skin.
