To the delight of women everywhere, red-soled shoe king Christian Louboutin has just opened the doors to his first beauty-dedicated boutique in his hometown of Paris.
The just-launched Louboutin beauty line currently encompasses a range of 30 high-pigment nail polishes, and was created in a joint venture between the fashion house and Batallure Beauty.
In the brand’s typically luxurious style, Louboutin’s 100th store will sit on Passage Vero-Dodat - the same historical street on which his flagship boutiques stand.
Described by Louboutin as “a small shop or big shrine”, the gallery-style store was designed by architect Pierre Yovanovitch, who explains: “[I was] handed this faceted nail colour bottle crowned with this black spear cap of galactic proportions. I immediately thought it would be compelling to establish a contemporary space, amidst this very historical Parisian passage, with design codes that redefine the new aesthetic approach of beauty so dear to Christian Louboutin.”
Within an all-white gallery style interior, the store’s walls have tiny alcoves that each house an individual Louboutin polish, presented in its striking spiked bottle. A blue stone floor, burnt wood furniture and a secret boudoir atop a winding copper staircase are also incorporated to provide - as the architect explains - “a discreet, private space for clients to try out the Louboutin beauty ritual.”
With Louboutin proclaiming “beauty is a boat that is meant to sail alone, but one that sails alongside the shoes”, it looks like the brand’s cosmetics line will continue to grow, with the recent announcement that the company will be releasing more products shortly.
