Louis Vuitton is launching a makeup line

Luxury fashion house, Louis Vuitton has announced it will release a line of colour cosmetics later this year, with renowned British makeup artist, Pat McGrath at the helm.

Stepping into the new role of creative director of cosmetics at the house, Vogue reported that McGrath has been working on the product development of the brand for the past four years – all while presiding over her own beauty empire, Pat McGrath Labs.

"People have been asking me for years, ‘When is makeup coming for Louis Vuitton?’ Now I can finally say it’s happening," McGrath told Vogue

"I have been creating makeup looks for Louis Vuitton for many years. We have a shared vision of beauty and collaborate in a way that feels entirely natural, but every season, there is a surprise and a twist! La Beauté Louis Vuitton is a perfect extension of the journey we’ve been on together."

The La Beauté Louis Vuitton range will initially launch with 55 lipsticks, 10 tinted lip balms and eight eyeshadow palettes.

"Prepare to be wowed," said McGrath.

"This is a métier – a concept with an artisanal approach to makeup that combines the heritage and legacy of the fashion house with the best innovation that the French product labs have to offer."

"It’s meaningful and it’s timeless, with each and every product being treated like an object of desire," she said.

Though we don't know exactly what the packaging will look like just yet, we know we can expect to cherish each piece as an heirloom, just as you would a Louis Vuitton handbag, or a piece of ready-to-wear.

BD will keep you posted on further La Beauté Louis Vuitton brand updates, so keep your eyes peeled.
