SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense Serum is finally available in Australia, following a change to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) regulations around tranexamic acid. After over two years of collaboration with the L'Oréal local and international scientific and regulatory teams, SkinCeuticals Australia has successfully amended the TGA Scheduling and Uniform Scheduling of Medicines and Poisons (SUSMP) guidelines, allowing tranexamic acid to be reclassified from a schedule 4 ingredient to a permitted ingredient in Australia – a significant regulatory milestone. The serum includes three per cent tranexamic acid which helps reduce the appearance of dark spots and discolouration by inhibiting the activity of melanocytes, which are responsible for producing melanin.
