Earlier this year, BD reported that popular skincare brand, Drunk Elephant, was likely exploring sale options.
Now, it seems the brand is exploring the idea of a possible buy-out bid, with the company said to have already instructed bankers to help with any potential acquisition.
Speaking at the launch of a New York popup store, Drunk Elephant founder and chief creative officer, Tiffany Masterson, said, “If there are companies that want to buy Drunk Elephant, we’re open to discussion. We’re just looking at what this looks like, seeing what this might look like.”
According to a report by Bloomberg, however, no deals are close to being finalised. Masterson has also downplayed previous reports that Unilever is considering acquiring the brand for an estimated US$1 billion.
“For me, selling the brand one day, it would have to be to a very special partner who lets me be myself and lets me have autonomy,” Masterson added. “Who knows if that’s out there. I hope it is. I hope we’ll find out soon.”
