L’Officiel Australia announces new editor-in-chief

He’s at the forefront of the fashion publishing industry, and now, L’Officiel Australia is excited to announce the appointment of ELLE deputy editor Damien Woolnough as editor-in-chief of the luxury magazine.

Woolnough has had a successful 20-year career spanning across magazines, newspapers and digital ventures, with previous roles as editor at vogue.com.au, fashion editor at The Australian, stints at InStyle and Harper’s Bazaar, and most recently, deputy editor at ELLE.

While CEO and publisher Dimitri Vorontsov has been looking after the editor-in-chief duties since the magazine launched Down Under in January, 2015, Vorontsov will now be handing over this part of the job to Woolnough in order to focus on his roles as CEO and publisher in Australia and New Zealand.

“Damien’s wealth of experience covers luxury across fashion, design, art and travel. These are all key pillars of this international brand. His respected understanding of luxury in the Australian market is an asset to L’Officiel. We are thrilled to welcome Damien as our new editor-in-chief as we continue to grow across print and digital in 2016,” says Vorontsov.

Woolnough adds: “I am thrilled to be joining the team at L’Officiel Australia. This prestigious brand with nearly 100 years of heritage occupies a position of style and strength when it comes to fashion through the filter of true luxury. There is a discerning local audience out there hungry for this point of view and I look forward to helping deliver the message of living a more fashionable and fantastic life.”

Woolnough will be joining the L’Officiel Australia editorial team on November 17. The team currently consists of executive editor Matt Paroz, fashion editor Aileen Marr, beauty editor Christabel Draffin, and head of commercial development Jo Constable.
