Yasemin Trollope enters the PR world

After a successful career in the world of journalism, Yasemin Trollope is turning her talents towards public relations, scoring a role in PR for acai brand Amazonia.

Of her decision to foray into public relations, Trollope explains: “As the PR manager, I'll be in charge of liaising with key health and beauty media, launching new products, pitching exclusive stories and bringing more awareness to the brand overall. It's a big move 'jumping sides' but the opportunity came at a time when I was looking for a new challenge. I'm a firm believer in constantly evolving and growing, both personally and professionally, and in this day and age you need to be multi-skilled. This opportunity gives me a chance to learn from a business perspective, and that really excited me.”

But Trollope is not closing the door on journalism entirely. She says: “The flexible nature of the role (I work three days a week) allows me to continue writing on a freelance basis - without holding the title of beauty editor - so it's the best of both worlds.” This includes a continuation of her role at PRIMPED as well as freelancing for Good Health magazine and other titles.

Trollope is excited to work with the Amazonia brand, revealing: “We have some really exciting things in the pipeline, including the launch of entire new range. For me, it's not only about sharing Amazonia's incredible products, but the culture and story behind the brand as well - because it is so unique and passionate about being a positive influence on its customers’ lives.” And she admits her experience as a beauty journalist has helped with the transition: “Having worked as a beauty editor for over 10 years, I've learned some of the 'insider secrets' and I'm hoping to implement them and build strong relationships between Amazonia and media/bloggers,” she says.

Trollope can be contacted at yasemin@amazonia.com.au Tuesday morning, Thursday and Friday. She is still using yaz.turker@gmail.com for her work in the journalistic spaced. Deliveries should be sent to 90/141-147 Cook Rd, Centennial Park 2021.
