Since hearing Lisa Patulny was departing FAMOUS magazine for a new role at Byrdie, the beauty industry has been eagerly anticipating her replacement. The wait is over, with Pacific Magazines thrilled to reveal the new beauty editor is .
With experience as a field producer in television, Lane is excited to move into the beauty and magazine arenas. Here, we speak to her about the new role, her career background, and joining the team at FAMOUS.
When did you start in the role?
I started on Monday (6 July) and it already feels like home!
Can you tell me a bit about your career history?
I come from a broadcast journalism background. Most recently I was working for Seven News as their field producer. I’ve always wanted to get into publishing so I’m stoked to finally be swapping the small screen for the magazine.
What attracted you to the role at FAMOUS?
My true love and passion has always been beauty and I have to admit I’m still pinching myself over scoring my dream job. What I love about FAMOUS is that it differs from the usual weekly gossip mag because it truly embraces fashion and beauty, with each week covering a vast amount of content (beauty alone covers 6 pages per issue!). So naturally, it’s a living dream that I can combine all my interests into one position: I get to write everyday, research and explore all things beauty, and work in an environment where it’s totally acceptable to talk Kardashians all day, every day.
What excites you most about the role?
I’m really excited to bring a digital approach to FAMOUS through video, and to grow the FAMOUS footprint online. I think it’s a really exhilarating time for media - we are working in a period of major digital change. I’m thrilled to be working in a role that has always been my career aspiration, and to continuously learn about the beauty industry. I’m honoured to be part of the FAMOUS family and surrounded by extremely talented and hard-working people. And plus, it's pretty hard to refrain the excitement I have to play with the latest lip gloss or bronzer everyday.
