She founded the curated luxury goods retailer 15 years ago, but yesterday Net-A-Porter Group executive chairman Natalie Massenet announced her resignation from the company.
With a merger between Net-A-Porter Group and Italian online retailer Yooz slated to be finalised in October, Massenet would have been responsible for overseeing editorial content. Massenet was reportedly against the merger with Yooz from the start, due to the profit-driven company’s stark difference to Net-A-Porter's luxury direction.
Massenet has severed all ties with the Net-A-Porter Group and will not be a member of the board of directors of the new group. Yooz fundeer Federico Marchetti will lead the company.
Having signed a 12-month non-compete agreement, Massenet will not be launching another online retailer in the near future. While rumours are rife about where Massenet will end up, there has been speculation she will return to the world of publishing.
