The end of one year tends to herald a plethora of staff changes. 2015 is proving to be no exception, with The Guardian Australia announcing two new year staff additions today, welcoming journalists Steph Harmon and Lucy Clark to the team.
Junkee Media founding and managing editor Steph Harmon will leave the online publication to take up the role of culture editor at The Guardian Australia. Harmon has been at Junkee since February 2013, prior to which she was editor of The Brag, and a contributor to The Vine and Time Out Melbourne.
Junkee's publisher Tim Duggan says of her departure: “Steph has been a great founding editor of Junkee over the past three years, and it’s been a fantastic period of growth for both Steph and Junkee. We wish her all the best with her new role and at the same time we are excited for a new editor to take the reins and take Junkee to the next level.”
There has been no replacement announced as of yet, with Duggan continuing: ”Whilst we have not appointed a replacement yet, conversations are happening and we are accepting applications and will make an announcement in due course.”
Also joining The Guardian Australia team will be Lucy Clark - the former Hoopla editor has been named senior editor at her new publication. Current editor Emily Wilson is excited to welcome the website's latest staff member, commenting: “We’re so pleased Steph Harmon is joining us at Guardian Australia. She’s a very clever editor, as well as being super-digital, and she’s going to be a great addition to our team.”
Clark will begin at The Guardian Australia from November 30, 2015, whilst Harmon will join her on January 4, 2016.
