The past few months has seen the Mamamia Women’s Network (MWN) working hard behind-the-scenes to deliver a major revamp of the network – with all its sites now amalgamated under the one masthead. The migration sees The Glow, The Motherish and Debrief Daily now fall under the Mamamia brand.
To find out how this has affected The Glow, BEAUTYDIRECTORY chats to Mamamia health, beauty and style editor Edwina Carr.
With The Glow now being housed under the Mamamia branding, what does this mean for the beauty site?
Our beauty and style section is now called The Glow and all our existing content was transferred over. It’s been a really exciting experience moving back onto the mothership. We still have content flowing to our The Glow Facebook page (165,000+ likes) and Instagram account (12.4K followers) but having the added power of the Mamamia social media channels (our Facebook page alone reaches over one million people) has been incredible.
What was the thinking behind this decision?
When we spoke to people – advertisers, readers and the market – about MWN, it became clear to us that while people had embraced our new brands such as The Motherish and The Glow, they still saw them as part and parcel of our original brand, Mamamia. We wanted there to be no confusion about who we are as a brand. After creating awareness about The Glow, collecting it back into Mamamia seemed the logical next step.
You were previously the editor of The Glow. What is your new title under the Mamamia branding?
My new title is health, beauty and style editor – so I’m still covering the same ground I was, with the same fabulous team.
Will content remain the same?
Absolutely, we’re constantly tweaking our content to reflect what our readers are into (and what’s happening on the day, of course), but we’re offering the same great opinions, product-centred pieces, videos and reviews our readers know and love.
