While Mugler, now known as Manfred”, will no-longer oversee all creative aspects of new fragrances, he will continue to consult for the brand in the position of creative adviser to Clarins Fragrance Group president and Thierry Mugler SAS director general Joël Palix.
Following the departure of the brand’s fashion creative director Nicola Formichetti earlier this month, the brand is now looking to recruit a single, full-time creative director to oversee both fragrance and fashion, according to WWD.
We thought it was time to reorganise and to look for an artistic director for the brand — for the total brand — somebody who will be directly involved in all the fashion creations and who will nourish the inspiration for the fragrance,” Palix told WWD.
In a press release, Palix reported: "Over the last three years, Mugler Fashion has made a visible and successful comeback, while Mugler fragrances have enjoyed a 50 per cent growth in sales with both Angel and Alien now amongst the top feminine fragrances worldwide.
It is time to unite both activities under one single creative management and turn Mugler into a global and fully integrated luxury brand with a synergetic approach across fashion, accessories and fragrances."
